Los Angeles Coffeetalk: GQR has been
faithfully sponsoring this monthly genderqueer safe haven
every month since 2002. Since 2002! This community resource
has served many, many people and by its sheer existence
changed the landscape of the gender community locally in
Los Angeles as well as beyond. In order for us to focus on
other exciting projects and developments, we're putting the
Los Angeles Coffeetalks on a short hiatus. During this time
we would like to invite interested facilitators to write us
at info@genderqueerrevolution.org so that this vital and
important presence continues to thrive.
Total Wellness!: Some of those projects
include the Total Wellness! health series, educating mental
and medical health providers, university administrators and
faculty, organizations, businesses, and other community
partners about health and wellness. Total Wellness! also
provides community members opportunities for spiritual
renewal, information and knowledge for self and others
advocacy, and world change through fun events throughout
the nation.
Continuing Collaboration: We of
GenderQueer Revolution are in the process of planning for
the next 16-18 months. We are continuing to develop
partnerships and relationships and innovating radical,
world-changing ideas and events. GenderQueer Revolution
also wants to continue collaborating and working together
with individuals, community groups, community
organizations, and other members of the gender and queer
families in bringing exciting events and programs to
showcase our fabulous diversity, allow for mutual
encouragement, and make the world a better place for all,
through the strength of the trans, gender, queer, and
allied communities.
A United ENDA: GenderQueer Revolution,
together with countless trans/gender/queer and allied
organizations, joined the United ENDA campaign. Visit
www.unitedenda.org for updates and action items.
Discrimination against the L, G, B, T, I, Q, and
genderqueer/gender-gifted individuals and communities all
ultimately stems from gender stereotypes and existing
systemic and cultural assumptions and rules around gender
presentation, roles, and rights. This affects EVERYONE, and
to exclude anyone hurts us all.
Expansion: We of the board are also
continually working together with and reaching out to the
trans, queer, genderqueer/gender-fabulous/gender-gifted
communities across the nation, the East Coast and Midwest,
for example. We are also expanding the board - stay tuned.
Look for even more social events, artistic events,
workshops, opportunities for service, and more, sponsored
by GenderQueer Revolution and other organizations.
In solidarity,
GenderQueer Revolution Executive Board
